BLUE-GREEN ALGAE SUPERFOOD

BLUE-GREEN ALGAE HEALTH BENEFITS

Similar to spirulina, blue-green algae supplement have many of the same nutritional attributes and health benefits.  Besides this, it also contains the biggest and broadest array of nutrients of any known algae.  Some of its metabolic attributes are…

Blue-green algae have been shown to possess unique chemical constituents that support the natural release of adult stem cells, which originate in bone marrow. These stem cells travel throughout the body to replace dysfunctional cells and serve to support normal tissue and organ function.  This most extraordinary discovery shows its ability to not only stimulate stem cell release and migration, but also stimulate the natural innate phenomenon of healing, regeneration and repair in the human body.

Nutrients in this plant also stimulate the immune system.  It contains a polysaccharide called immunon, which is a potent activator of human white blood cells, the monocytes and macrophages. It also exhibits neuro-active, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties that enhance immune cell circulation and modulate immune cell functions.

It contains phenyl ethylamine (PEA), which I have heard referred to as the “molecule of love”. Besides enhancing concentration and attention, PEA is a natural mood elevator and anti-depressant.  It is known to create a feeling of joy or well being.  It is only widely found in two foods, chocolate and SuperFood Plus.

It also contains concentrations of phycocyanin, which promotes healthy joints and tissues and has potent antioxidant properties.  This blue pigment is a natural selective COX-2 inhibitor with strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Blue-green algae is also a rich source of chlorophyll, a green pigment found in plants that is responsible for the transformation of light energy into chemical energy. Scientific research, as well as popular medicine, has evidenced the healing, cleansing and energizing properties of chlorophyll.  A by-product of chlorophyll in the digestive system, chlorophyll in, has been shown to have strong anti-cancer properties, specifically targeting liver cancer.

Nearly 50% of the lipid  (essential fatty acid) content is composed of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs).  Recent research has shown that the average American diet is highly deficient in Omega-3 PUFAs.  Dietary Omega-3 PUFAs are beneficial to the immune, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Omega-3 PUFAs also have anti-inflammatory properties and help to maintain a healthy cholesterol level. A study performed at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard University, revealed that the Omega-3 fatty acids in algae are extremely well absorbed by the body.

Blue-green algae has also been identified to possess a unique inhibitory activity that affect specific intestinal enzymes, delaying the absorption of sugars and
reducing blood glucose.  This discovery is one of the proposed mechanisms underlying the benefits obtained by many diabetic patients and people
